Our
Main Street Tour wine tour exposes you
to the stunning rural vistas unique to each winery,
many of which are nestled in gently rolling hill
valleys, some atop huge panoramic views. Each
winery, uniquely and simply stated, allows the wine
to become the hero of its story, offering a tasting
experience to satisfy everyone from the novice
taster to the most adept wine enthusiast.
Our Main Street Tour also offers you appropriate
gourmet food pairings to highlight your fine-
crafted wine tasting experience. You will learn that
throughout the year, several wineries collaborate
with artisan food producers, pairing their wines
with the wares of various chocolatiers, chefs, and
internationally-renowned cheese and torta makers.
You will of course have the opportunity to purchase
any of the fine and affordable wines, well packaged
for carrying or shipping, or perfect for enjoying
soon after your visit.
OUR
HISTORY OF WINE IN SOUTHWEST OREGON
In
the 21st Century, the wine industry of Southwest
Oregon has truly "come of age" garnering numerous
regional, national and international awards!
The Southwest Oregon wineries you will have the
honor to visit with Main Street Winery Tours are
among 27 Southern Oregon Winery Association (SOWA)
members. Each is comprised of family owned and
operated wineries with annual sales that range from
1,000 to more than 100,000 cases. This is in part
why they are so unique.
Today’s Southwest Oregon wines are a reflection of
the pioneering spirit and individualistic
personalities that have long existed in Southern
Oregon, going all the way back to the Jacksonville
philanthropist, viticulturist and photographer of
the late 1800s, Peter Britt. He produced some of the
region's finest wines...of which some of his
original plantings have survived the years for
today’s production.

OUR
SUSTAINABLE FARMING PRACTICES
Because SOWA realizes
that they are the earth’s caretakers, association
members ascribe to sustainable farming practices in
order to keep the ecological balance within the
regions.
These voluntary practices help to conserve water and
soil, limit chemical use, rebuild eroded areas and
maintain natural wildlife habitats.
Do you know why Southwest Oregon has great
wines??
IT
IS OUR CLIMATE and SOILS
Our beautiful Rogue Valley grape region is
- Considered one
of the most prestigious and prosperous growing
regions in Oregon
- The approximate
rainfall 20-35 inches annually is ideal for many
varietals
- It is similar to
France’s Bordeaux region, with its warm, dry
climate benefits
